The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, reacted in today's parliamentary session to the statements of opposition deputies regarding the premature closure of the previous session and their exclusion from the debate on the government program.

In a response to the accusations of the DP deputies, Balla considered their statements as unfounded while emphasizing that everything was conducted in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

"This procedural moment of the session is regulated by the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. I took a close look at the minutes of the last session and it does not appear to me that any MP who took the floor today was a speaker in the previous session," said Balla.

He referred to Article 44 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, according to which, at this stage of the discussions, only those deputies who have contributed an opinion in the previous session, but whose opinion has not been properly reflected in the minutes, may speak.

"For those who don't know how to read the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, I am reading Article 44 to them myself. After violating the session, they come back a week later and ask for an opinion," said the SP MP, accusing the opposition of irresponsible behavior and attempts to create public confusion.

Balla added that the entire manner of conducting the session was determined by consensus in the Conference of Speakers, an inter-party structure of the Assembly that decides on the agenda and organization of parliamentary proceedings.

"We have arrived at the Conference of Speakers with consensus and therefore I invite you to proceed to a vote," he concluded, calling on the deputies to close the discussions and proceed to a vote.
