The largest dictionary of the Albanian language, which will contain about 120 thousand words, will be ready to be published in November. This dictionary will initially come in virtual format from the Internet, while in 2025 it will continue with the printing process.
This dictionary will be enriched with 70 thousand new words. There will be words that were not included in the dictionary published in 1980.
So, Prof. Dr. Shezai Rrokaj states that: This dictionary has been submitted. It will need minor technical modifications. In the meantime, it will be open first in academic circles to receive opinions, corrections or ideas. With such a quantity of pages normally for use it can go up to three volumes! The purpose of this dictionary is to rise above the existing dictionaries, which are of the Academy of Sciences - I mean the dictionaries of the years 1980, 1984, 2002, 2006, 2020 - and have a very wide area, which answers in a fair way the opening of the Albanian space within the ethnic territories."
The new dictionary of the Albanian language is a collaborative work between the Academy of Sciences of Albania, the Academy of Sciences of Kosovo as well as linguists from North Macedonia.
