Famous Italian actress Eleonora Giorgi has passed away. The protagonist of some unforgettable comedies lost her life at the age of 71 from pancreatic cancer.
Born in Rome on October 21, 1953, she was one of the most iconic actresses of Italian cinema. The daughter of a Hungarian mother and a Romanian father, she began her career in the 1970s.
She made her debut as a character in Federico Fellini's 'Roma', but her first major role came in 1973 with 'Storia di una Monaca di Clausura', a conventional erotic film directed by Domenico Paolella, in which she starred alongside Catherine Spaak. This film marked the beginning of a series of roles in erotic films, including Appassionata, in 1974, in which she starred with Ornella Muti, who became her close friend.
In the 1970s she began to diversify her roles, appearing in dramatic films such as L'Agnese va a morire (1976) and Cuore di cane (1976). She also starred in Dimenticare Venezia, a film nominated for an Oscar as Best Foreign Language Film.
The 1980s were a period of great success for Eleonora Giorgi, who starred in numerous successful comedies, often paired with famous actors. In the 2000s she continued to work in film and television, appearing in various shows and talk shows.
In 1979, Eleonora Giorgi married publisher Angelo Rizzoli and their love gave birth to Andrea. However, their marriage was tested by financial scandals involving her husband, leading the couple to separate in 1984.
Later, the actress had a relationship with actor Massimo Ciavarro, with whom she had her second son, Paolo. Although their relationship ended, Eleonora and Massimo have always maintained a relationship of respect and friendship. Since 2007, she has been in a relationship with writer Andrea De Carlo.
