New details have come to light about the past and activities of Violand Braçellari, the perpetrator of the murder of police officer Enea Mekolli and the injury of his colleague, Edison Adri.
According to sources close to Braçellari's family, he received funds from AZHBR to build livestock stables, despite the fact that he had been a wanted person for 9 years and was considered a high social risk.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the subsidies were received in his name or in the name of his mother. Sources claim that the funds are related to agricultural and livestock activities.
The very stables where Braçellari is suspected of having invested were turned into the scene during the police operation, where he fired a Kalashnikov at officers. The shooting killed 36-year-old police officer Enea Mekolli, while Edison Adri was injured.
The case raises questions about how a person wanted for years was able to benefit from public funds, while RENEA forces were previously engaged in his capture.
Who is Violand Braçellari?
Violand Braçellari is the author of the serious incident in the village of Lozhan in the Maliqi area of Korça. The 43-year-old was declared wanted, while the police were able to locate him and this morning they launched an operation to arrest him in his hometown.
According to reports, Braçellari, a former soldier, disobeyed police orders and responded with gunfire to calls for surrender. As a result of the exchange of fire, the Shqiponja forces officer, Enea Mekolli, was killed and Edison Adri was injured, out of danger to life, and was taken by helicopter to Trauma.
The perpetrator of the massacre was prosecuted and later found guilty by the Korça Judicial District Court for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration with other unidentified persons.
