New details have been made public on the profile of Violand Braçellari, the 43-year-old who is suspected of killing State Police officer Enea Mekolli and injuring his colleague Edison Adri during an operation conducted in the Lozhani area.
Reporting on the "Off the Record" show on A2 CNN, journalist Artin Halili said that police had provided operational information about the 43-year-old's location on Mount Bode, where he had been living for years in a complex of stables he had built.
" The Korça police had received information in operational channels that 43-year-old citizen Violand Braçellari was in a tent on the Bode mountain, in the village of Lozhan. Within a few hours, they organized a work plan to go and make his arrest possible. Then what happened happened, leaving behind a victim, Enea Mekolli, a policeman from the 'Eagles', and his colleague, Edison Adri , injured," Halili declared.
According to the journalist, Braçellari had been wanted for about a decade and several police operations had previously been conducted to capture him.
" He has been wanted by the Korça Police for 10 years. There have been several actions by RENEA forces to arrest him. No assistance was requested from RENEA for the intervention. He had been there for several years at the farm. He had built a stable complex. He had been living there with his mother for some time. It should be noted that he had not been so hidden that the police did not have information ," the journalist said.
Halili also revealed an episode that occurred two years ago, when, according to him, the 43-year-old had severely raped a local shepherd after suspicions that the latter had caused a fire in the mountain.
" Two years ago, a massive fire broke out on Mount Bode. During this period, Braçellari appeared. During this period, he raped another shepherd in the area, who, according to the data we have obtained, not only physically raped him, but also dragged him through the forest for an hour, with his horse, because he thought that the shepherd had set the forest on fire. He was later found tied to a tree ," said Halili.
The incident in which officer Enea Mekolli was killed and another police officer was injured has shocked public opinion, while investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances of the operation and the dynamics of the collision with the 43-year-old.
