At the request of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), the Special Court has decided to extend by three months the investigation period against the three brothers Aleksandër, Kristi and Fation Bushgjokaj, as well as against Petrit Çakri, suspected of the murder of young Renis Dobra.
SPAK has requested that the investigations continue until October, arguing that additional investigative actions are needed, related to the acts of expertise of mobile phones and the performance of fingerprint overlays.
The prosecution's request was opposed by lawyer Erjon Kullolli, defense attorney for Fation Bushgjokaj. According to him, the Special Prosecution Office had the time and objective opportunity to carry out the procedural actions it is now requesting, but it has not done so.
The lawyer also argued that, up to this stage of the proceedings, SPAK has not yet managed to prove the elements of the criminal offense of "Kidnapping", as well as the fact that this offense was committed within the framework of special cooperation in a structured criminal group.
Bushgjokaj's defense added that SPAK's request contradicts the decision of the Joint Panels of the Supreme Court, since, according to it, the prosecution has not argued why the security measure "prison arrest" is the most appropriate measure in this case.
On the other hand, the lawyer primarily appointed by the court for Petrit Çakrin stated that he leaves the decision-making on SPAK's request to the court's discretion.
The four arrested are accused of the murder of Renis Dobra, an event that occurred in July 2025.
Meanwhile, during one of the previous hearings at the Special Court, the three Bushgjokaj brothers were involved in a physical conflict with co-accused Petrit Çakri, after the latter implicated them in the murder of Renis Dobra.
