A person aware of the Rinas incident, where Gilmando Dani and AMP officer Muçi Shaljani Sheqeri were killed, was accompanied to the police yesterday evening.
It is reported that the citizen with the initials B.XH was released today. According to information, the 35-year-old man escorted yesterday evening is from Fushë-Kruja, the area where the perpetrators burned the car they used for the assassination.
The young man lives very close to where the car was burned, but in his statements he claimed that he was not at home at the time and thus denied having any connection with the incident or having seen the movements of the possible perpetrators. He was brought in for questioning after he was previously convicted of robbery with violence. A month after the assassination, the police have focused on questioning various people who may have knowledge, but up to this stage, no perpetrators or orderers have been identified.
How did the assassination attempt on Gilmando Dani happen?
The attack took place in one of the safest areas, the Rinas airport roundabout. But at 2:15 p.m. on November 11, by chance there was no police force nearby, as is usually the case near airports. Gilmando Dani had just gotten off a flight from Barcelona, where he had been staying for 4 days.
In the released video of the assassination, the movements of the assassins are seen, as soon as other people inform them that the vehicle in which Dani and Sheqeri were traveling left the parking lot of the "Mother Teresa" airport, the perpetrators' vehicle moves to the other side of the circle and waits there for a few seconds.
As the Benz approaches, the three assailants emerge from the camouflaged car and open fire with Kalashnikovs. After the car Dani was traveling in stops, two of the perpetrators get into the car while another goes to the Benz to make sure the target is dead.
The Toyota vehicle in which the perpetrators were traveling turned out to have Greek license plates. The license plates were stolen in Greece a year ago, while the car has not yet been verified as stolen or not, as it was completely burned, damaging the chassis number.
Three Kalashnikovs and a pistol were found inside the car. While there is still no clear lead on the incident.
