Arben Anamali

The body of 51-year-old Arben Anamali, the captain of the tourist boat who saved the lives of two Israeli tourists but was unable to get out of the water himself, has been found. His body was found after about 48 hours of searching.

The 15 tourists, who set off from Shiroka, wanted to enjoy swimming in the largest lake in the Balkans and refused to listen to Captain Anamali's request not to enter the water, because the wind coming from the north was putting them at risk. A few minutes after entering the lake, the tourists asked for help, as the wind had blown them about 50 meters away from the boat.

It is learned that the captain jumped into the lake with two lifeguards, but he himself remained in the water, unable to return due to the strong wind, which pushed him into the depths of the lake.

Arben Anamali, as a master of boat and skiff engines, but also a licensed captain, was hired by the Shkodra municipality on May 1, 2024, when the tourist boats "Buna" and "Drini" were brought in. The 51-year-old was a father of two children.
