The victim had recently returned from Germany, after serving several years in prison for drug offenses.
A dark past in Germany is believed to have been the cause of the murder of 23-year-old Renis Dobra in Albania.
The Dibra criminal police have discovered that Dobra had been sentenced to several years in prison by German justice for distributing narcotics.
The motive of drug dealing and trafficking is believed to have been the cause of his elimination, while forensic expertise has previously confirmed that the 23-year-old was strangled with a rope, as the redness of the throat is typically caused by a strong pull on a rope or wire.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that the victim was kidnapped in front of his cousin, by several people who had told him "...to remain calm because they were the Police...".
The two "policemen" got into the car and apparently tied him up with a rope in his car, causing 23-year-old Renis Dobra to drown.
During questioning, Dobra's cousin said that he did not recognize the people introduced as "Police". He thought that his relative would be taken to the Mati police station, since Renis Dibra has had problems with the Albanian justice system several times, where he was accused of several thefts and a sentence he received in Germany.
But Dobra never went to the police station after his lifeless body was found in a ravine, 10 meters from the waters of Lake Shkopet. The body had come out of the car when the latter made several turns in the ravine, ending up submerged in the water.
It is expected that tomorrow, RENEA divers will use logistical means to remove the car from the water, in the hope of finding new evidence that would help find the perpetrators of the crime.
The victim had recently returned from Germany, after serving several years in prison for drug trafficking. This situation may have been the reason for his elimination, as the perpetrators may have suspected that Dobra had spoken to the authorities.
But this is only one of the leads, as the victim was also booked by the Mati police for theft. Meanwhile, at the scene, the police were unable to find the victim's personal belongings such as a phone or wallet, which are suspected to have sunk together with the car in the water or been taken by different people.
Up until this stage of the investigation, the police have only administered the testimony of the victim's cousin, who was the only person who saw the two people who kidnapped him, Renis Dobran.
Meanwhile, the victim's father and people who had social ties to him have also given statements. Currently, the police and the Dibra prosecutor's office are working to scan all the footage in the hope of finding a single image of the people who committed the serious crime.
