An Albanian has been extradited from Dubai to Italy, after more than a year on the run. The Italian police, through the liaison officer of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), have made it possible to extradite the Albanian, whose name is not being made public.
As part of Operation 'Tornado', the 44-year-old Albanian, suspected of being the leader of one of the international drug trafficking organizations, is already in Brescia prison.
The Albanian had been on the run for almost 1 year, after the Brescia investigating judge issued a detention order against him in 2024 for international drug trafficking and drug trafficking in collaboration.
The operation, codenamed "Tornado", was carried out by the Brescia PEF Unit under the direction of the Brescia District Prosecutor's Office, with the coordination of the Brescia Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza and the Central Service for the Investigation of Organized Crime (SCICO).
The cooperation between Italian and Emirati authorities, coordinated by the 2nd Department of the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, was essential, leading, last February, to the capture of the fugitive by the Dubai Police, where the fugitive was hiding, Italian media report.
