
A 22-year-old Albanian woman has been arrested at the port of Rhodes, shortly after arriving by ferry from Piraeus, after being caught with over 2.2 kilograms of cocaine hidden in her suitcase.
According to Greek media, the young Albanian woman did not resist during her arrest, while police are investigating whether she is part of an organized drug trafficking network.
During the search, in addition to 2,248 grams of cocaine, officers also seized a 9 mm pistol, 49 cartridges, and 1,300 euros in cash.
The 22-year-old is currently in custody and is expected to appear before the Rhodes Prosecutor's Office tomorrow morning, where she will be officially charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
Meanwhile, investigations by Greek authorities continue to uncover the trafficking network and the exact route the drugs followed, which had the tourist island as its destination.
