According to the court's decision, the security measure against Haxhiu was terminated due to exceeding the investigative deadlines.
The Tirana Court has decided to lift the security measure against Edison Haxhiu, who was accused of being an accomplice in the mafia assassination attempt on Gentjan Bejtja, which occurred on March 15, 2024 in the village of Larushke in Fushë-Krujë.
According to the court's decision, the security measure against Haxhiu was terminated due to the exceeding of the investigative deadlines. The 30-year-old Haxhiu was accused by the Tirana Prosecution Office of "creating conditions to commit murder", as he is suspected of having made available a "Golf 7" type vehicle, which was used to drive away the perpetrators of the crime after the burning of the car used in the assassination, a "Land Rover Discover".
Haxhiu was arrested on March 20, 2024, five days after the murder of Gentjan Bejtja, along with Ilir Beqaraj. The prosecution charged him with "Unauthorized possession of weapons and ammunition" and "Creating conditions to commit murder", while his case was separated from that of the other suspects due to the expiration of the investigative deadlines.
Investigations into Bejtja's murder continue, with Ilir Beqaraj charged with "Premeditated Murder" and another suspect, Flodian Plaku, declared wanted, who is suspected of being hiding in Spain.
We recall that Gentjan Bejtjas was executed with 45 Kalashnikov bullets, it happened while the victim was watering tomatoes in his yard. Investigations have shown that Haxhiu had a supporting role, helping Ilir Beqaraj, alias Ilir Brahimi, who is accused of being one of the main perpetrators of the murder.
