The High Court has definitively rejected the appeal of former operational forces officer Jeton Lami, upholding the decision of the Lezha Court to sentence him to 2 years and 10 months in prison for abuse of office.
Lami was arrested in August 2022, after being filmed accompanying Ervis Martinaj, who later disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
The General Jurisdiction Appeal had previously confirmed the first instance decision, while Lami himself requested a review in the Supreme Court, which today finally overturned it.
Martinaj's disappearance became one of the most sensational cases in the country, with strong suspicions of a mafia execution. His name was also mentioned by Nuredin Dumani, who accused him of ordering the murder of Endrit Dokles for a sum of 500 thousand euros. To this day, authorities have not been able to find out what happened to the "king of gambling", while his associates are facing justice.
