The Elbasan Prosecution Office has sent for trial the file against 13 people suspected of the criminal offenses of 'Prostitution' and 'Exploitation of prostitution' provided for by articles 113/2 and 114/2 of the Criminal Code.
According to an official announcement, several months of investigations within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 1461 of 2024, revealed a prostitution network where foreign nationals from Latin America and other countries were recruited, transported and placed in Albania to engage in prostitution activities for payment.
At the center of this network were foreign citizens FG and JG, who, through a well-thought-out scheme and with the help of other associates, coordinated the illegal activity and benefited from the sexual services provided by the recruited women.
During the intensive phase of the investigation, simulated operations and undercover agents were used, which enabled clear documentation of the criminal activity. Material evidence was seized, including marked money, telephones, compromising communications, and all elements that prove the structure and functioning of this criminal network were documented.
In total, 13 defendants were sent for trial, including:
2 organizers for the criminal offense of "Exploitation of prostitution" in aggravating circumstances;
2 citizens suspected of being clients who received sexual services for payment;
8 foreign nationals, from Latin America, accused of practicing prostitution in the territory of the Republic of Albania; and
1 person used for exploitation.
The criminal activity was spread across several cities in the country and the network operated using international online platforms for introducing escorts, where through the publication of photos and rates, contact was made with Albanian and foreign clients.
"The prosecution has documented not only the way the network was organized and operated, but also the mutual ties of cooperation between the people involved.
"The Elbasan Prosecution Office will continue to supervise and resolutely follow all further procedural steps in this matter, in order for all those involved to bear criminal responsibility for their actions," the official announcement states.
