Another serious accident has been recorded on the Albanian coast, this time in Durres. A 21-year-old Belgian tourist is reportedly in critical condition after a boating accident in the coastal area of Shkëmbi i Kavajës.
According to preliminary information from the Police, at around 20:00, the Belgian citizen lost control of a Jet Ski during maneuvers at sea and was forcefully thrown into the water.
He was initially transported to the Durrës Regional Hospital and then urgently sent to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana due to serious injuries.
The police have accompanied the owner of the vessel for further procedural actions, while a special investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and its legal documentation.
We recall that this afternoon in Gjipe, another German tourist was seriously injured by the propellers of a speedboat while swimming in the sea.
"A Belgian tourist was injured this afternoon in Durrës, at the place called 'Shkëmbi i Kavajës', after a Jet Ski accident. The incident occurred at around 8:00 PM, when the Durrës Hospital Emergency Service notified the police of the patient's arrival. After the notification, our services immediately went to the hospital and from the first investigations it results that the citizen HK is suspected of having lost control of the vehicle during maneuvers and fallen into the water. As a result of the collision, the young man received serious injuries and was urgently transported from the Durrës Hospital to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he is in serious condition. The police have accompanied the owner of the watercraft, S. Xh., to the Police Station for further procedural actions. Meanwhile, a special investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing its work to fully clarify the circumstances and legally document the event ," the police statement said.
