Three wanted persons have been arrested in Rinas after being convicted of drug trafficking.

Police announced that one of them, Denis Xhelili, was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison. The 41-year-old, resident of Vlora, is accused of the criminal offenses of “Conspiracy to supply class A drugs” and “Conspiracy to evade through fraud the prohibition on the importation of a class A drug”.

"The Rinas Border Police has intensified controls to crack down on illegality and capture wanted persons.

In this context, 3 citizens were arrested and put in handcuffs, one of whom was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison.
The Rinas Border Police Services, as a result of risk analysis, in-depth interviewing, detailed verifications of travel documents and exchange of information with partners, made it possible to detain 3 wanted citizens at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, specifically the citizens:

Denis Xhelili, 41 years old, resident of Vlora. This citizen has been returned in the "Deportable" category from the United Kingdom and after interviewing and detailed verifications it has resulted that the Vlora Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction has upheld the decision of the Luton-Chichester Crown Court, which sentenced him to 13 years and 4 months in prison, for the criminal offences of "Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs" and "Conspiracy to evade by fraud the prohibition of importing a Class A drug".

VS, 38 years old, resident of Tirana. This citizen was traveling from Belgium and was detained at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, where after verifications it resulted that he was sentenced by the Court of Tirana to 2 years and 4 months in prison, for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics".

MM, resident of Korça, after the Judicial District Court decided to convert the sentence from a fine to imprisonment, for the criminal offense of "Illegal border crossing".

"The aforementioned citizens, after being interviewed, were handed over to the Vlora, Tirana and Korça Local Directorates for further action," the police statement said.
