Police: The conflict started with hard objects and ended with weapons, one injured person still on the run
Police have revealed new details from the gun attack that occurred this evening in the village of Gjashtë, on the outskirts of the city of Saranda, where businessman Rexhep Ismaili , 66, was killed.
The serious incident occurred at around 9:30 PM, at the “Vëllezërit Ismaili sh.pk” gas station, owned by the victim. According to preliminary information, Ismaili was sitting at a table with other people when the armed perpetrator entered the station and opened fire on him, hitting him with a bullet in the head.
Sources from the scene indicate that the people who were with the 66-year-old responded to the perpetrator, but the latter managed to leave immediately after the crime.
In the official announcement, the police explain that the conflict initially started with hard objects and then degraded to the use of firearms. From the first investigations, it is suspected that the author of the murder is citizen Lulëzim Tabaku, who after the incident fled together with other people involved in the conflict.
Police also suspect that another person was injured during the gunfight, but has not yet been hospitalized and has not been identified.
Numerous police forces have set up checkpoints and are combing the area to capture the perpetrator, while checks are also being carried out in private hospitals and clinics to identify the suspected injured person.
The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continues to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, while the news remains under development.
