"Why don't you stay in your lane?"/ New details emerge from the

Other details have come to light from the murder of "Eagles" operative Novruz Cenalia on the afternoon of May 13, 2024, an event for which the Fier Prosecution announced today the indictment and requested life imprisonment for the perpetrator, Azgan Mernica.

Journalist Anila Hoxha brings details from the investigation file, one of which is the eyewitness testimony of Cenë Qelia, who during the preliminary investigation stated how the murderer Azgan Mernica had entered the wrong way and how he shot the police officer in cold blood.

The incident, according to the witness, occurred at noon and he saw everything, after he had been drinking a soft drink in a bar located in the village of Baltëz. He stated that he was outside the bar and in the company of Ledion and Hermes, Ledion's cousin.

During this time, he saw his nephew Novruz Cenalia, who was a police officer, passing by them. The witness said that Novruz was in his Benz vehicle and waved to them.

"At that moment, a black or blue vehicle with black windows approached at high speed. This vehicle, at the moment of turning, had entered almost the opposite side of the road from where Novruz was heading and they almost collided. At this moment, Novruz completely braked his vehicle to avoid a collision. The perpetrator also swerved his vehicle to avoid a collision and drove a few meters away from the store in the direction of Baltëz-Hamil where he stopped the vehicle.

The perpetrator, who was a young, tall, thin man, aged around 20-25, wearing black clothes with a short-sleeved shirt and black trousers, carrying a black bag on his arm, reached into the black bag and pulled out a gun which he loaded, loaded with both hands and then held in front of him, pointing it at Novruz. He approached with the gun in his hand and addressed Novruz with the words "What do you want? What's wrong with you?".

Novruzi was inside the vehicle and opened the door and got out. He was wearing the distinctive red and blue police uniform (which I think belonged to the Shqiponja unit of the city of Fier) and addressed the author with the words "Where are you going with that gun?".

The perpetrator did not say a word back to Novruz, but was threatening him with a gun. A woman, who was with the perpetrator in his vehicle, in the front passenger seat, got out of the vehicle and addressed him several times with the words "Oh Azgan, don't, oh Azgan, don't" - the witness says and approached both of them, and more so from Novruz's side, with the intention of talking to him and not doing anything, telling him "don't make a mistake, calm down".

Meanwhile, he also addressed the author with the words "Put that gun away, it's not a toy". Novruzi, who had his hand on the pistol the whole time without taking it out, took out the gun when he spoke to the author. This was the fatal moment for Novruzi, as soon as he took out the gun, the author shot him in the face only once and then hurriedly left in the vehicle and at high speed towards the village of Hamil together with the woman he had with him. Novruzi fell to the ground unconscious. He approached him together with Ledioni, calling out to him, but he did not respond.

Asked if he knew the perpetrator, the declarant stated that he did not know him, but simply heard the words "Azgan" used by the woman when she said "Azgan, stop" and that he had never seen this citizen.

The prosecutor also cited a witness who saw the police officer ask the killer why he wasn't staying in his lane.

"Novruz said, 'Where are you going? Why aren't you staying in your lane?'" and this was the beginning of the conflict.

Asked if Novruzi had drawn his service weapon and whether there was an exchange of fire between them, the declarant replied that at the moment they were arguing, the perpetrator was holding the weapon in front of him and pointing it at the ground, while when Novruzi got out of the vehicle, as soon as he saw the perpetrator with the weapon, he was holding his hand near the pistol, but without drawing it, and at this moment the witness said he waved at the killer, telling him "don't", in order to avoid a conflict with the weapon and the argument continued.

At this moment, he went inside the store because he did not think that the conflict would degenerate in this way, and he did not see Novruz pull out his service weapon. During the argument, Cen Qelia also approached to separate them, but he was unable to separate them, and the woman who was in the perpetrator's vehicle, about 40-45 years old, was trying to convince the perpetrator./TCH
