One of the largest operations against environmental crimes in recent years has been finalized by the Elbasan Police.
The police have conducted an operation against environmental crimes in the Elbasan Metallurgical Plant, and 16 people have been arrested.
Intensive investigations, as well as inspections carried out in cooperation with the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, have resulted in the finding that two commercial entities, which operated in the area of the former Metalurgjiku in Bradashesh, have violated environmental legislation, polluting the air, water and soil, as well as failing to respect the rules for integrated waste management and the processing of battery waste.
It is learned that the arrested citizens are: Juncheol Chung - Korean citizen, Prakash Kadel - Nepalese citizen, as well as the Indian citizens: Rahul Pal, Styend Pal, Munna Singh, Rajesh Yadav, Aaditiya Raj, Rahul Pal, Dheeraj Kumar.
The arrested Albanians are: Jakup Karaj, Ismail Dybeli, Dorjan Xhufka, Elton Bejkolli, Besnik Abdiaj, Elton Beqi and Eglis Flaga.
Those arrested are in the roles of administrators, production directors, engineers, technical managers, shift managers, furnace operators, and employees.
According to the police, for the violations found regarding integrated waste management, during the inspections, administrative measures of 3,000,000 lek were imposed on one of the entities and 10,000,000 lek on the other entity, and the activities of both entities were suspended until the legal requirements were met.

The police operation codenamed "Metallurgical" is being finalized, pursued for several months with special investigative methods, in cooperation and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to crack down on crimes against the environment.
Criminal proceedings are being initiated against 2 legal entities, based on Article 3 of Law No. 9754, dated 14.06.2007, “On the Criminal Liability of Legal Entities”, which were carrying out illegal activities in waste processing and ferrochrome production, causing environmental pollution.
16 citizens (9 of them foreign citizens), with managerial, technical and employee roles, are arrested.
8 citizens, shareholders, are declared wanted.
Continuing the work to identify and crack down on criminal activities against the environment, the investigative structures of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Elbasan Police Commissariat and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan, after a several-month investigation followed by special methods, finalized the police operation codenamed "Metallurgical".
As a result of the operation, 16 citizens were arrested, specifically:
JC, 64 years old, Korean citizen, EF, 48 years old, resident of Elbasan, administrators;
BA, 62 years old, EB, 48 years old, both residents of Elbasan, production directors;
EB, 51 years old, resident of Elbasan, AR, 31 years old, Indian citizen, engineer/technical manager;
RP, 24 years old, SP, 27 years old, DK, 32 years old, RY, 38 years old, MS, 43 years old, RP, 24 years old, all Indian citizens, PK, 32 years old, Nepalese citizen, JK, 63 years old, D. Xh., 45 years old, both residents of Elbasan, shift manager/oven operator/worker;
ID, 60 years old, head of the Environment Sector in the Municipality of Elbasan, for the criminal offenses of "Abuse of office" and "Forgery of documents".
Also, the procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office and citizens BZ, 43 years old, DK, 54 years old, FM, 55 years old, Gj. B., 48 years old, A. Sh., 72 years old, SO, 67 years old, IL, 53 years old, AK, 38 years old, shareholders of commercial entities, for the criminal offenses "Air, water and land pollution", "Hiding income", "Illegal employment" and "Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", committed in collaboration, were declared wanted. Work is underway to capture them.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan for further action.
