It is learned that the neighbor in question was under "house arrest" for illegal possession of weapons, but it is suspected that he had violated the court's decision by leaving the apartment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the target of the assassination is suspected to have been the officer's neighbor, due to possible conflicts related to drug dealing.
Meanwhile, it still remains unclear why Officer Kumaraku accompanied a person who was under "house arrest", even though he had not notified the police of his violation of the security measure.
"On 18.05.2026, at around 00:10, in the Shkoza area, under still unclear circumstances, citizen AK, around 30 years old, an off-duty police officer, was injured, suspected of being shot with a firearm.
The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital and is out of danger.
Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services set up checkpoints and are continuing intensive checks in the area, with the aim of capturing the perpetrator(s).
"The investigation group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the circumstances, identify the perpetrator(s) and legally document the event," the police announced.
