Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sharply criticized the Israeli government, which he described as "addicted to war," accusing it of fueling tensions in the Middle East and hindering efforts to reduce them through diplomacy.
In a statement, Erdoğan said that Turkey has supported and will continue to support any initiative aimed at reducing tensions in the region and resolving disputes through diplomatic dialogue.
" We have supported and continue to support every step that will contribute to reducing tensions in our region and solving problems through diplomacy ," said the Turkish president.
He added that Ankara is following "very closely" the actions of the Israeli government, which, according to him, aim to undermine efforts to reach consensus.
Erdoğan used harsh language towards the Israeli leadership, which he described as the "Zionist leadership", claiming that it links its political survival to the continuation of conflicts in the region.
According to him, Israel is also continuing to exert pressure on Lebanon and Syria, hindering stability in these countries.
" We must not allow the current Israeli government, addicted to war, to plunge our region into the smell of gunpowder and blood again ," Erdoğan declared.
The Turkish president emphasized that Turkey aims for a regional order where all residents, regardless of religious belief, live in peace, security and stability.
