This Sunday morning, surprise checks were conducted at the Lushnja Prison and the Elbasan Prison.
The checks are focused on internal regimes, cells, common areas and security sectors, with the aim of identifying and preventing prohibited items, strengthening operational control and increasing security standards in penitentiary institutions.
Numerous security forces and prison administration personnel were engaged in the operation.
During the inspections at the Lushnja Penitentiary, surplus items and communication equipment accessories were found and seized. In the meantime, any material that constitutes a criminal offense will be referred to the IKBB and the competent authorities for further procedures.
"At the Elbasan Penitentiary, the operation was carried out in cooperation with the newly appointed director of the institution, in the context of taking office and strengthening security measures. The checks were carried out in the internal regimes, cells, common areas and security sectors, with a focus on identifying and preventing prohibited items, strengthening operational control and increasing security standards in the institutions.
"Numerous security forces and prison administration personnel have been deployed on the ground. During the checks at the Lushnja Penitentiary Institution, surplus items and communication equipment accessories were found and seized, while any material that constitutes a criminal offense will be referred to the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Commission and the competent authorities for further procedural actions ," the announcement states.
