A police officer was injured by gunfire in the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred in the Shkoza area of Tirana, while the injured officer has been identified as AK, 30 years old.
According to official information, the injury occurred under unclear circumstances, while the officer was off duty.
AMP has launched an investigation, while the police officer is in hospital, out of danger.
NOTICE
On 18.05.2026, at around 00:10, in the Shkoza area, under still unclear circumstances, citizen AK, around 30 years old, an off-duty police officer, was injured, suspected of being shot with a firearm.
The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital and is out of danger.
Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services set up checkpoints and are continuing intensive checks in the area, with the aim of capturing the perpetrator(s).
The investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the circumstances, identify the perpetrator(s) and legally document the event.
