The injury to the former police officer in Saranda this afternoon was caused by the barrel of a pistol. According to the police version, the 56-year-old was involved in a fight with several other people and one of them injured him with the barrel of a gun.
Regarding the shooting, police say the pistol was fired unintentionally into the air during the confrontation and caused no damage.
Meanwhile, according to sources coming from the scene, there was a fight between several people. Knives were also pulled out. One of them pulled out a pistol, fired into the air, then shot Adil Veli 3 times in the head with a pistol holster.
"Today, at around 19:10, in neighborhood no. 4, Saranda, it is suspected that during a conflict, citizen Adil Veli, 56 years old, was injured with a hard object, suspected to be the barrel of a pistol, and is in hospital, under the care of doctors.
From the preliminary examination of the scene, it is suspected that during the moment of impact with the barrel of the weapon, the weapon was involuntarily fired into the air, without causing any consequences. As material evidence, a firearm cartridge was found and seized at the scene.
"The investigation group is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, identify and apprehend the suspected perpetrator, as well as for its full legal documentation ," the police announced.
