Greek policeman arrested for helping Albanians distribute drugs in Mykonos; 5

Greek police have arrested eight people, including four police officers and four Albanian citizens, suspected of being members of a criminal group distributing drugs in Mykonos.

The group, led by a 42-year-old Greek officer, reintroduced narcotics seized by the police into the market, collaborating with members of the Greek mafia and informing them of police checks. The leader of the group, suspended from duty since January 14, 2025 for fraud, led the operations together with his “right-hand man”, a 31-year-old officer who had served in the Southeastern Athens Narcotics Department.

Two other police chiefs, a 35-year-old from the Mykonos Sub-Directorate and a 43-year-old from the Akarnas Department, were also involved. Among the civilian collaborators were a 24-year-old Albanian, his 29-year-old sister (partner of the group leader), and two other Albanian nationals.

Investigations revealed bank transactions worth around 5 million euros in the accounts of the 42-year-old and his partner. The group communicated through online applications and is suspected of being linked to other criminal cases, including informing businessmen about police checks.

The file also includes 13 other suspects, including a police chief from Pydna-Kolindros and three individuals with serious criminal records, linked to a large file for the murder of four members of the Greek cigarette mafia, led by the much-wanted "Entik" who is hiding in Dubai.

The 42-year-old's arrest began on October 23, 2024, for fraud, when his phone was confiscated, revealing communications that confirmed his role in drug trafficking and ties to the Greek mafia. Authorities continue their investigations to fully unravel the criminal network.
