The police have identified and are searching for the perpetrator of the incident that occurred after midnight in the Shkoza area of Tirana, where police officer Anxhelo Kumaraku was wounded by gunfire.
The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital and is out of danger.
Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services set up checkpoints and are continuing intensive checks in the area, with the aim of capturing the perpetrator(s).
The investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the circumstances, identify the perpetrator(s) and legally document the event.
