Elvis Koçi, otherwise known as Elvis Çaushllari or nicknamed "Vis Korçari", was arrested on Saturday evening in Ksamil, after a joint operation by the operational forces of Tirana and the Saranda Police Commissariat.
According to preliminary information, police officers from Tirana had been monitoring the 34-year-old for some time and located him during the day in the Ksamil area. At around 10:30 p.m., an operation was organized to arrest him, with the participation of civilian agents from the crime sector in Saranda.
Sources from the scene indicate that, as soon as he noticed the police presence, Çaushllari attempted to flee by performing dangerous maneuvers with his vehicle. During his escape, he is suspected of crashing into two civilian vehicles used by the police, initially managing to escape the officers.
Immediately after the incident, a pursuit was organized, while FNSH forces from Saranda were also involved in the operation.
After about 30 minutes of searching, the 34-year-old was located near a private business on the Ksamil-Butrint road, where he was arrested. Police also seized the vehicle he was driving, which turned out to be registered in his brother's name.
There has been no official announcement yet about the reason for Çaushllari's detention. However, unofficial sources suggest that he could be wanted in accordance with a decision of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC).
Elvis Çaushllari is known as a name involved in conflicts between criminal groups in Elbasan and has previous criminal records. In 2022, he was arrested by SPAK as part of the "Golden Bullet" operation, and was released a year later.
