Ervis Martinaj's cousin was stopped by police at the door of Ilir Selmani's apartment, who is under house arrest following the Special Appeal's decision.
Emiljano Nina, the cousin of the former gambling boss, who has been missing for several years, Ervis Martinaj, has been arrested by police near the apartment of Ilir Selmani, who is under "house arrest" security measure.
According to preliminary data, Nina was stopped at the door of the apartment and is suspected of being caught in possession of a firearm. The circumstances of Emiljano Nina's presence in Selman's apartment, as well as the purpose of the meeting between them, still remain unclear. So far there has been no official reaction to clarify the reason for his presence at this address.
Ilir Selmani has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for the murder of former police officer Santiago Malko. On June 19, the Special Appeals Court decided to change his security measure, placing him under "house arrest."
In January, the Special Court also sentenced Fatmir Hyseni, Aleksadër Maxhak, Dritan Aga and Oltion Lona, part of the murder group, to 25 years in prison each (130 in total). The only one who was able to obtain an acquittal was Leonard Duka's brother, Elvis Duka, for whom SPAK could not find evidence of his involvement in the assassination.
"I have nothing to do with the murder. I learned about it on television. I am close friends with the Duka brothers. I went for lunch on the day of the incident at the bar they had rented. The lunch was casual and lasted about 2 hours and 30 minutes. There were 8-9 of us at the table, Blendi Teta, Fatmir Hyseni, Erlis Myftari brought Bledi and left. Erlis Duka asked me to accompany Blendi Teta by car to the hospitals. I heard something but I don't know if it was gunshots or not. Later, when I thought about the incident, I realized that it was gunshots. Then I took the car and when I went to the bar, the police had surrounded Erlis and Leonard. 4 days after the incident, I saw that there are 9 people wanted for the murder of Santiago Malko", Selmani declared in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, Emiljano Nina is a well-known name to law enforcement agencies, having been involved in several previous incidents. He was also arrested in May 2023 in the "5 Maji" area of Tirana.
One of the most famous episodes involving Nina is the serious accident that occurred near the Artificial Lake Dam in Tirana, in August 2023. According to information published at the time, the vehicle he was traveling in was moving at high speed on the "Kosovarët" road, before ending up on the lake dam.
