Laert Haxhiu's phone, which was found in his Drenova prison cells after a surprise search, has been taken into custody by SPAK.
The telephone will be subject to inspection at SPAK's digital laboratory, Report TV reports.
At the end of the phone scan, more light may be shed on the contacts or messages that the person sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the Lushnja massacre may have given from his cell.
SPAK's digital laboratory is expected to scan everything related to the mobile phone, while it is still unknown how Haxhiu managed to secure the phone in the high-security prison. He has been charged with being part of a structured criminal group, and for a long time he waged a legal battle to avoid being extradited from Greece, where he was arrested, to Albania.
Scanning the phone could shed light on Haxhiu's connections with other elements, the communications he had, the messages he may have given, and even whether his group is still active. Depending on what can be discovered, investigators could open a new investigative chapter regarding the young man who is accused of serious criminal offenses, 17 of which were confessed to by one of the justice collaborators, Artan Tafani.
