A Drenova prison police officer was arrested today, suspected of turning his duty into an illegal gateway to the interior of the cells.
Sources from investigative bodies confirm that Rudenc Myrte, who had been under special surveillance for months, was arrested after being found involved in bringing narcotics and prohibited items into prison premises.
According to preliminary information, the officer is suspected of repeatedly passing doses of cannabis, distributing them among the convicts.
The arrest was carried out pursuant to an order from the Prosecutor's Office, following evidence obtained from wiretaps and field surveillance. A day earlier, a cell phone was also found in Laert Haxhiu's cell, but in Drenova Prison and it is suspected that the same officer had put it in.
