A serious accident occurred this afternoon in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood of the city of Berat, where a construction worker lost his life after accidentally falling from a height.
It is learned that the 66-year-old man fell from the third floor of a building under construction where he was working. The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. and the victim has been identified as a 66-year-old RH citizen, resident of Berat.
He was rushed to the hospital, but died a short time later from his injuries. An investigation team is at the scene, working to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident. Authorities are verifying whether safety conditions were respected at work at this construction site.
This is not the first case where various workers in our country lose their lives due to lack of care and safety conditions. In many cases, none of the safety components are used by employees and neither do companies require their workers to respect technical safety conditions. The numbers of fatal accidents at work remain high, while the intervention of relevant institutions with fines and more frequent controls is required to minimize such events.
