A tragic event occurred this afternoon on the Shëngjin beach promenade, where a 32-year-old man lost his life in serious circumstances. According to official sources, the young man is suspected of having come into contact with electricity, losing his balance and slipping from the height of a pier.
The victim has been identified as ZL, a resident of the village of Mërqi in Lezha. The incident occurred at around 16:45, near the “Willson” bust, a frequented area of the Shëngjin coast, in the presence of vacationers and passersby.
Police are at the scene, while the investigation team is working to uncover the full causes of the accident. It is still unknown whether safety standards for works in the area were respected, while the case raises major concerns about the control of electrical installations in public spaces, especially during the tourist season.
