He killed for the Turkish mafia, who is the 22-year-old Albanian

Greek police have arrested 22-year-old Albanian Alesio Biba from Vau i Dejës, suspected of being the perpetrator of the July 13 mafia attack in Athens, which injured Turkish citizen Volkan Ertas and a Greek police officer. Biba was caught after he attempted to destroy his phone in front of officers, but strong evidence was found in his apartment, including the murder weapon and suspicious tracking devices.

The incident took place at the “Filloas” bar on “Tripoleos” street, where the 48-year-old Turkish man was shot four times with a pistol. One of the bullets wounded him, while another accidentally caught a Greek policeman, the husband of the owner of the bar. According to Ertas’ testimony, he had gone there to get a vehicle in exchange for a debt, but it is suspected that he had been trapped by orders from inside the prison.

Investigations revealed that behind the assassination was Suleyman Dalgic, a well-known Turkish mafia figure and leader of the "Daltons" group, sentenced to life imprisonment for the execution of six Turkish citizens in October 2023 in Artemida. Although he was in Larisa prison, Dalgic is suspected of having ordered the assassination through his foreign connections, recruiting the Albanian as an executioner.

In his testimony to the authorities, Biba admitted to the crime, but said his only intention was to injure Erta. However, the weapons, ammunition, technological devices and his connections to a dangerous mafia boss shed light on an organized criminal network operating across borders – with Albania once again emerging as a source of recruits for international crime.
