A serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon at a construction site in the "Kushtrim" neighborhood in the city of Berat. A 66-year-old worker (mason) was working and fell from the third floor of the building. He was immediately transported to the Berat Regional Hospital, where despite the intervention of doctors, he could not survive the injuries he received and died a few minutes after arriving at the hospital.
Numerous police forces and the group that is continuing to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident went to the scene. A day after the incident, the Berat Police confirms that, after carrying out the necessary verifications, 65-year-old Tahir Numani, owner of the firm BIFFER & CO ShPK, has been declared wanted, who fled immediately after the incident, without giving any explanation.
The police confirm that criminal proceedings have also been initiated against the company's technician, citizen SB, 69 years old. The owner Tahir Numani and the company's technician are accused of the criminal offense of "Violation of safety regulations at work". As can be clearly seen from the footage, provided by the daily work at this construction site, it is clear that the employees work without any safety. They are seen untied, not equipped with protective equipment and without any railing to protect them from falling.
The victim, Ramadan Hatija, underwent a forensic autopsy yesterday evening, which confirmed that the victim did not suffer any cardiac arrest, there were no fluctuations in blood pressure and there was no alcohol in his blood. According to the autopsy, the most serious injuries the victim had received were to the head.
Meanwhile, at noon today, the lifeless body of 66-year-old Ramadan Hatija, a resident of the "Uznovë" neighborhood, was taken to his last residence.
The owner of the company Tahir Numani is on the run, without giving any explanation as to why technical safety conditions were lacking at this construction site, where another worker was injured while working a few months ago. Since yesterday, the construction site of this building has been closed by the police for several days, until the completion of the first investigations into the incident. / BalkanWeb
