The Tirana Court has imposed the security measure "house arrest" on 41-year-old Ekrem Skureni, the driver of the vehicle that hit three minors a few days ago near "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard.
The incident occurred on June 25, when three children, aged 9 and 11, riding electric skateboards, crossed the road at a red light. At that moment, a Renault vehicle, driven by Skureni and working for a private company, hit them at high speed.
The minors were seriously injured and were rushed to the hospital. The 9 and 11-year-olds who were in the ward have left the hospital in good health.
Meanwhile, the other minor, 11 years old, remains in serious condition in intensive care.
Road expertise confirmed that the braking occurred late and could not avoid the fatal collision.
Ekerem Skureni was arrested after the incident and in the hearing held today, the Court decided to leave him under house arrest for serious traffic violations.
The event has shocked public opinion and sparked debates about road safety, the use of skateboards by minors, and the lack of use of protective helmets.
