KLA during the War and after the War!

Shkruar nga Alban Daci

KLA during the War and after the War!

There are many other families in Kosovo who sacrificed everything, but after the war they returned to their normal lives without even doing interviews or complaining about the war!

The war in Kosovo is the fruit of the continuous discrimination of Albanians because of their ethnicity! A long-standing Yugoslav policy! In Kosovo, there has also been no shortage of colonial policies that the authorities of the former Yugoslavia have applied with the aim of changing demographic ratios with the tendency for the Albanian ethnicity to turn from a majority into a minority!

However, the resistance of Albanians in Kosovo for freedom and to live in their native lands is unparalleled, perhaps in our national history! The Albanians of Kosovo did not accept, surrender or leave their lands under any circumstances! Demographics remained in their favor and this was also due to the fact that they continued to have many children and maintain the traditional concept of the large Albanian family. As a result, every Albanian family in Kosovo had enough children to send emigrants abroad to help the family with income, and they also had enough children to keep in Kosovo!

Yugoslavia's policies have always been Apartheid, but this policy became much harsher after the events of the 1981 protests! There are many theories about the fall of the former Yugoslavia, but in my opinion, its fall began with the Albanians in the early 80s! So, the Albanians became an inspiration for other ethnicities and also, the harsh reactions of the Yugoslav authorities to suppress them were considered an alarm signal for others seriously considering secession and independence as soon as possible!

In the early 1990s, with the arrival of Milosevic and his visit to Kosovo, making his famous statement to "protect" Serbs from Albanians, the fall of the former Yugoslavia officially began and the aggressive policy that would turn into Genocide for Croats, Bosniaks, and Albanians was clearly articulated.

Events were escalating and in Kosovo there was an official line represented by Rugova who fought for the internationalization of the Kosovo issue and its final solution through peace, and another line represented by many intellectuals like Adem Demaçi who thought that the issue could only be resolved through war!

In fact, the first, although forgotten because it did not "win" the war, played an extraordinary role in getting countries like the USA to recognize the crimes and violence that Albanians suffered! An extraordinary role in this regard and forgotten was undoubtedly played by former Senator Dioguardi and why not, as his former friend, also former President Biden!

The appearance of the KLA changed the internal balance in Kosovo! However, the KLA was very dimensional and essentially it did not have a political ideology! In Kosovo, there was also Farku and the KLA at the beginning of the war, which resembles the similar scenario of Albania in World War II, the Ballists and the National Liberation Movement! Both in Albania and in Kosovo, in the end the KLA won and remained the only authority, but of course, from the testimonies of the former American Advisor in the process against Thaçi, it was clear that the KLA was local in character and the commanders made the decisions!

So, let's say that in the areas of Kosovo there were other patriots or nationalists who, in uniform or without uniform, fought first for their families, for their areas, and ultimately served the cause of Kosovo's Independence as the final solution!

Of course, the greatest epic and symbol of resistance was Adem Jashari! Was he the greatest brave of Albanianism? I can't say this, because in a similar situation I believe that most Albanians would have made the same decision, but what makes him extraordinary is the fact that he had a vision to solve the problem with Serbia through the War. Hamza even testifies to this in a rare interview! Would Adem have sought power after the war if he had not fallen heroically? I can't say this, but there is no evidence that he fought for personal interests, even for power!

I think that Ademi would not have turned his war service into a struggle for power, and this is clearly evident from the fact that his brother Rifat and other family members who are now adults behaved after the war! In any case, they have said that the sacrifice was for Kosovo and have remained modest in their testimonies! This did not happen with other KLA leaders who considered the triumph of the war as the legitimate and only right to govern Kosovo!

In this story, there are many families that should not be excluded, and of course, an equally important family among many others is the Haradinajs, whose service to the country cannot be questioned!

There are many other families in Kosovo who sacrificed everything, but after the war they returned to their normal lives without even doing interviews or complaining about the war!

The KLA's struggle, in uniform or not, is the struggle of an entire people for the right to exist in their native land as free and independent! It is the struggle of all Albanians wherever they were, and also of Albania, which played a major role!

The privatization or appropriation of the War is again similar to the behavior of the National Liberation Party in Albania, which converted in 1941 into the Communist Party and seized power, justifying the latter for 40 years with the idea of war and resistance!

During the War, the leaders of the KLA were fighters, after the war they turned into political entities, into leaders, and consequently they should be analyzed for their qualities, how they governed and what they did to Kosovo!

If they do not divide the KLA into during the War and after the War, then we do not understand what happened and what is happening in Kosovo! They have already left the soldier's uniform and put on the politician's costume! The politician seeks power and power does not belong to the whole people like freedom, but to the actors who do politics!
