How independent in thought, concept, or even political stance these "independent candidates", or contenders for "independent candidates", are is clearly visible...
After the May 11 elections, where the DP lost again and heavily, Edi Rama expanded his majority and a new, fragile opposition entered Parliament, few developments have occurred so far.
In addition to the new government, which was not a novelty in reality, we had a fight within the ranks of the new opposition over family members-MPs, and no movement from the DP.
Which, after being caught by surprise in the by-elections in Tirana and several municipalities, is taking some fragile moves, which aim to improve its image in the public.
Seeing that his reputation among the Albanian public is a disaster, seeing that the image of the DP parliamentary establishment is worse, Sali Berisha is undertaking a Ramizist-style "reform" before the fall of the communist regime.
Instead of a real process of discussion, debate and voting for the selection of mayoral candidates, Sali Berisha imposed a "laboratory" formula from above that he is establishing as a fait accompli in the opposition arena.
This formula is based on the selection of what Berisha called "independent candidates" who are supported by the Democratic Party.
These independent candidates clearly appear to be a political product of Berisha's kitchen, conceived not today but according to a well-thought-out plan over time.
Similar moves that Berisha has made several times in his political steps, whether with the approach of Spartak Ngjela, Bamir Topi, or even with the KOP of 2004.
Where, in order to come to power, the doctor brought back a number of names who had left the DP and some new, well-educated names, who had been served directly by his family members, namely his daughter.
In the KOP group, the most sensational catapult was Lulzim Basha, who rose so high in his career, becoming a minister several times in Berisha's two terms - prime minister and mayor of Tirana in 2011. To formally take over as head of the Democratic Party in 2013.
That operation, which began in 2004 and was attempted to be renewed several times over the years with movements here and there, was nothing more than makeup. But since the scars on the DP's face were deep and the wrinkles from age and stress were large, there was no cream to heal it. So political botox was used.
A type of temporary injection that does not restore beauty, but slightly stabilizes the image for a while. Which must be repeated periodically, filling the internal channels with silicone fluid.
Botox "Basha" had the biggest investment, but after a while it turned into a kind of political Frankenstein, where the "image" was not obeying its creature, thus breaking the mirror with a hiss.
In this new situation, a new type of Botox is being used: "independents", such as the names that were initially discussed as candidates for the Tirana municipality, and then one was nominated by the doctor, asking the entire opposition to support him.
How independent in thought, in concept, or even in political stance these "independent candidates", or contenders for "independent candidates", are is clearly visible.
And the most illustrative evidence is the statement of one of these contenders for "candidate" who wished Fatos Nano death, because he remembered his grandfather's house. Meanwhile, a few years ago, a political candidate of the Democratic Party for mayor of Tirana, Sokol Olldashi, openly made a political coalition with Fatos Nano in 2007.
But in reality, Berisha doesn't like these "independent" candidates for their opinions and "visions." He wants to use them as silicone for the next session of opposition botox for a while longer.
Until the next session, when some new "scientific" material on eternal youth will probably be released. Which Putin and Xi also talked about at the big Beijing summit...
