Today we have a politically clear fact that we did not have before. The EU leaders are not simply in agreement but are pushing for Albania to be part of the European Union. Eureka means Albanian politics.
But this is not happening because the DP, namely Sali Berisha, not only does not agree but is funding some proxy institutes in Tropoja to claim that Albania is not approaching EU standards. A perhaps reasonable conclusion, but why don't EU leaders have this position?
Of course, they are not Tropojans like the "independent" representatives of the institutes that receive funding from the EU. Albania is not a country like Switzerland, like Croatia, like Slovenia, but you can't say any argument that Albania is not like Bulgaria or Romania. Countries like us that are today members of the EU.
Albania has really had the challenge that is justice today, a reform where a prosecutor can investigate important and high-ranking officials. This has been achieved, even surpassed, and the EU has really gotten the message.
But in Albania, this is considered a risk, and there are even links to the DP who release photos and videos of EU officials on Albanian beaches with their girlfriends, who consider this a blasphemy. And who, the people who own the largest properties, have been declared non grata precisely for the illegal assets that have been seized even during frenetic parties or vacations?
Who are these people who accuse officials of simply bathing in the sea, when they have been tearing our boards apart for 30 years, accusing the communist regime of having banned the right to celebrate, when in reality they are doing the same thing? Ultimately, this is the problem, so Sali Berisha and his lawyers drive us crazy every night by repeating that the restoration of justice has failed.
In fact, the opposite has happened, no matter how many problems this reform has, especially in the case of prosecutors who affect human rights. But the EU has seen that Albania has prosecutors in the republic and likes it. This is not new. It has also happened in Bulgaria, Romania or other countries and there politics has been done, but normal, not opposition to EU entry.
