Multiple sources claim that she was placed in this competition on direct orders from criminal networks that have controlled the economy of the south, and especially the coastal areas, for years.
Her family profile is deeply compromising and clearly shows close ties to individuals convicted of serious criminal offenses, ranging from international drug trafficking, mafia organizations, and laundering of the proceeds of crime.
She is the sister of citizen Alxhi Nallbani, known in the criminal world as "Xhili", who has been sentenced to 14 years in prison in the Italian state for participating in a mafia organization and drug trafficking.
Another alarming connection is with Renardo Nallbani, known as "Nardi", a close cousin, also convicted of criminal organization and drug trafficking with a final verdict of 14 years in prison.
Currently, according to available data, he is under "prison arrest" security measure for his involvement in the incinerator affair, one of the biggest financial scandals of the Albanian transition.
But the most shocking part of this criminal mosaic is the blood connection that Brunilda Mersini has with the well-known figure of the criminal world, Alfred Shkurti, known as Aldo Bare, one of the most dangerous bosses of the Albanian mafia, convicted of numerous crimes, including murder and leading a criminal organization.
She is his uncle's daughter, which places her at the center of an inherited web of shady connections between politics and the underworld.
Instead of being the subject of an investigation for money laundering and connections to individuals with criminal records, she is promoted as a political representative and further as a candidate for one of the country's most strategic municipalities, Vlora, the main gateway to the south and the most important hub for investment, tourism, and public wealth.
This candidacy is seen as a coordinated move by organized crime groups, which through it aim to consolidate control over coastal assets, valuable lands in Tragjas, Orikum and the Zvërnec area, turning these territories into a "criminal colony" where politics is simply a facade and decision-making is made behind the scenes.
In investigative circles, it is said that the entire process of property transition in Tragjas, as well as several new construction projects in the Rradhima and Uji i Ftohtë areas, are directly linked to the structures that politically support Brunilda Mersini.
Essentially, her case shows more clearly than ever before how organized crime has not only infiltrated politics, but is now using it as a tool for legitimization, cleansing, and control of territory.
If the justice institutions are left with only the role of spectator, then Brunilda Mersini's candidacy is not simply an electoral scandal, but clear proof of the final capture of local government by criminal structures.
