Sali Berisha has built a communication strategy that is in keeping with his 35-year history of dealing with justice. He viciously attacks any judge or prosecutor who dares to investigate him or his people, or any judge who has a case against him in hand.
The case of Irena Gjoka is the most concrete illustration of this strategy, where the leader of the DP, attacks with long and continuous attacks, a judge of the GJKKO, who has handled and is handling the criminal case against him. This act is nothing more than a criminal offense written in black and white. But in addition to this, it is a verbal aggression, which creates a climate and domino effect in the ranks of prosecutors and judges who have cases against the former President and former Prime Minister in hand.
The High Judicial Council, which is the highest governing body of the judiciary, is also responsible for the protection of all judicial personnel. The High Judicial Council held a meeting today, where not a single word was said about the ongoing blackmailing of a judge against crime and corruption by the leader of the Democratic Party.
The same thing happens with the KLP, which does not say a word about Berisha's savage attacks on Altin Dumani, or other prosecutors who have cases against him, such as Arben Kraja or others.
We have seen unabashed statements from the leaders of these two institutions towards Edi Rama, when the prime minister has commented on decisions or inactions of certain prosecutors or judges.
But never an institutional stance towards this blackmail, which has turned into a specific strategy, which has borne fruit, intimidating members of justice institutions.
In all likelihood, the silence of the KLGJ and KLP has no other answer than a direct effect of Sali Berisha's strategy. In other words, a fear that if they speak out, the attack will deepen and continue, as is happening with their colleague.
Which literally means that these institutions do not have enough courage to carry out their duties normally. And in this case, the institution that should take charge of this difficult situation is the one that elects the heads of these institutions. So the Parliament of Albania, namely the Laws Committee, but also the plenary session.
Criticism of judges, a decision, or even individual members of the judiciary occurs in various countries around the world. But it is not the case when a politician who is in a legal process attacks and blackmails the judge in the case.
