We don't just have a law enforcement problem! The problem is deeper.
For the three knife murders today that followed the murder of the 17-year-old in Vlora, in the early hours of the morning, for the two killed for a coffee, for the one killed for the "high beams of the car", do not blame the police, nor the school, nor the dominant culture of violence. Do not look for the solution in law enforcement! Not even in justice. The law punishes, but does not prevent.
We don't just have a law enforcement problem! The problem is deeper. We are not capable of managing anger, frustration, rage, and conflict without seeing the other as a "target to be destroyed."
There is a solution, but not a quick one. Education.
This process does not begin at the age of 6, when the child sits on the first-grade bench, nor when it ends up in the courtroom. "Education is a long and difficult process, it begins 20 years before the child is born."
There is a need for an honest debate about how future parents are raised and educated in the family, how speech is treated in cafes, on the streets, in the media, in Parliament and on social networks, and above all, how to instill in the brain that life is sacred!
