Gjirokastra police have arrested the owner of the "GLOW" swimming pool, Ermal Koko, after the serious incident in which a 15-year-old boy lost his life yesterday.
It is reported that the arrest was carried out by order of the Gjirokastra Prosecutor's Office, signed by the prosecutor of the case, Nertila Myftaraj, and was executed by the Gjirokastra Police. Koko was arrested in flagrante delicto by the Judicial Police Officer, while the procedural actions were followed in the presence of the prosecutor.
The victim, 15-year-old Arbër Peçi , had gone to the pool with two of his friends. According to preliminary data, after entering the water he did not feel well and remained at the bottom of the pool. It is suspected that a heart attack was the cause of the teenager's death, however, it is expected to be determined by forensic expertise.
Sources from the investigation indicate that the minor had asked for help with gestures moments before he lost his life, but no one entered the water to provide first aid. The alarm was then raised by his friends, who notified the authorities.
Following the incident, investigations have also been extended to the entity that administers the pool, to verify whether legal safety conditions have been respected, including the presence of personnel trained for intervention and rescue in cases of emergency.
So far, seven other people have been taken to the Gjirokastra Police for questioning, including the victim's two friends and members of the pool staff.
It is also learned that the private swimming pool 'Glow', where the serious incident occurred, is owned by Ermal Koko, the husband of the deputy mayor.
