The Transparency Board has increased fuel prices again, while diesel will be sold at 195 lek per liter...

The Transparency Board has again changed the new fuel prices, increasing diesel by 4 lek.

At the meeting on June 4, 2026, the Board decided that the retail price of diesel would be no more than 195 lek per liter , while the wholesale price would be no more than 183 lek per liter.

Regarding gasoline, the retail price has been set at no more than 175 lek per liter, while the wholesale price is set at no more than 163 lek per liter.

The new prices will come into effect today, June 4, at 3:30 PM, and will be valid until the next Board meeting, where possible changes in the market will be reflected.

The Board has drawn the attention of wholesale and retail operators of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement the decision. In case of violations, the measure of suspension of activity will be taken against the entities.

Transparency Board Announcement:

The Transparency Board on June 4, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 195 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 183 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 175 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 163 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 4th, at 3:30 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.

Fishing gas oil – the selling price of fishing gas oil, referred to Law 9975, dated 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 it is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from the payment of the turnover tax and the carbon tax. Also referred to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels is provided, in the quantities, conditions and criteria specified in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology specified in the normative act, the selling price of fishing gas oil results in 100 lek.
