War feeds regimes
Cartoon Pamphlet /

The US and Israel aimed to weaken the Islamic Republic, but they are giving it its most powerful weapon: the legitimacy of the siege...

There are moments in international politics when military power, rather than producing solutions, produces illusions. And one of the most dangerous illusions of this time is the belief that bombing Iran automatically weakens the Islamic Republic.

At first glance, the logic seems simple: the greater the pressure from outside, the closer the regime is to collapse. But the Middle East does not operate on linear formulas. Iran, least of all.

Today, a paradox is emerging that Washington and Tel Aviv seem either unable to understand or refuse to acknowledge: by striking Iran, they are not stripping the regime of its political power, but are giving it the historical justification to harden, to close in, and to survive.

Instead of isolating the Islamic Republic from its own people, they risk wrapping it in the banner of national defense.

This is the essence of strategic error. Ideological regimes do not feed only on success. They also feed on threat. Sometimes, even primarily on threat. The Islamic Republic has built its identity for decades on the idea of encirclement, resistance, and sacrifice. In such a reality, external attack is not read simply as a military blow; it is translated into a moral test, an instrument of mobilization, and a pretext for internal discipline.

This is precisely where Tehran's dark power lies. It may be economically weak, socially exhausted, and politically exhausted, but it remains remarkably capable of turning foreign pressure into internal energy for survival.

Every missile that falls on Iran doesn't just strike a physical target; it could also strike at the very possibility of an independent opposition, of a civic discontent that demands change from within, not from the sky.

Because when a country comes under fire, the internal balances change. Even those who hate the regime, in many cases, do not want to see their country torn apart by foreigners. Even those who seek freedom do not necessarily embrace national humiliation as a way to achieve it. Thus, the dividing lines between state and society blur. And in that fog, the first winner is always the security apparatus.

This is why military campaigns against Iran risk producing the opposite of what they promise. They are not necessarily paving the way for a freer Iran; on the contrary, they may be preparing the ground for a more militarized, more closed, and more harsh Iran. Instead of weakening the radicals, they are giving them golden proof that the world is against Iran and that any compromise is naivety.

This is the moment when diplomacy must speak louder than cannons. Not out of sentimentality, but out of realism. Because the history of the region has repeatedly shown that authoritarian regimes in the Middle East are toppled less by bombing than by their internal decay. When outside powers intervene brutally, they often become, without realizing it, the most effective propaganda partners of the regime they want to overthrow.

In this sense, the US and Israel are not saving the Middle East from a dangerous regime. They risk doing something worse: strengthening it at the very moment when its internal weakness could have been most apparent. They are giving Tehran the political luxury of victimhood, the strategic privilege of encirclement, and the moral instrument of martyrdom.

And so, in their attempt to bring the Islamic Republic to its knees, they may have made the biggest mistake possible: they gave it a reason to live./ Pamphlet
