The Albanian national team has recorded its second consecutive defeat in friendly matches, after being defeated 0-1 by Luxembourg at the "Air Albania" stadium. After the previous defeat to Israel, the Rossoneri failed to react, leaving a disappointing taste in front of the fans again.
At the end of the match, coach Rolando Maran expressed dissatisfaction with the result, emphasizing that the team did not do enough to get what it wanted from this match.
" The players' commitment has been great, but this is not the result we wanted. We have not done well enough and we are also paying for the mistakes left over from the qualifying round. These two matches have served to get to know the team better and to identify aspects that need to be improved ," declared Maran.
According to the Italian coach, the goal conceded in the first minutes affected the team's balance, while attempts to find the way to the net created spaces that the opponent managed to exploit.
" We need to carefully analyze what didn't work in these two games. Losing the goal early destabilized us and the desire to equalize made us lose our balance on the field. These are situations that should not be repeated and that we need to correct as soon as possible ," he said.
Maran also focused on the physical condition of some players, underlining that some players have come to the training camp with a few minutes of activation or after a long and tiring season.
" There are players I'm still getting to know. Some of them have had a few minutes at their clubs and this has also been reflected in the physical aspect. These two matches have helped me create a clearer idea of the group and the future choices ," said the coach.
Another concern remains the lack of goals. Albania finished the two friendly matches without scoring a single goal, totaling 180 minutes without finding the back of the net.
" These two losses weigh heavily, especially in front of our fans. I expected a reaction and improvement after the first match, but that didn't happen. We also have to take into account the psychological aspect, as the players continue to feel disappointed by not qualifying for the World Cup ," said Maran.
However, the coach also highlighted some positive elements, praising the players' dedication and willingness.
" The players' responsibility and motivation are the most positive aspects. I used these matches to test and get to know some players better, in order to be better prepared for the decisive challenges that await us. We will continue to work to improve what did not work ," concluded the national team coach.
