He has almost changed half of the government; why is Edi Rama hesitating?

Edi Rama is ready to change half of the government, but is postponing it due to pressure from SPAK, the Constitutional Court's decision and direct demands from internationals. The hesitation shows that future moves are more related to political survival than to real reform of the government...

The cabinet that Edi Rama appointed after the May 11 elections was not his real plan for the new government. Informed that SPAK would launch a strong offensive against him, he used the formula of a suicide cabinet, postponing the plan of a government "with young people" for a second phase.

As has been rumored for months in the corridors of the majority, it was expected that by the end of the year, Edi Rama would appoint six new ministers. They would come neither from the parliamentary group nor from his inner circle, but would represent a new political infusion, intended to be used in the local elections of 2027.

The plan starts in Tirana, where the majority candidate for mayor is expected to join the new government, in a department without high political costs and without managerial complications. It is said that this is a name known to the public, mainly from television, but who has not commented on politics so far.

Edi Rama hesitated to make this move now, because he expects two important developments related to the Constitutional Court's decision after January 22. A day earlier, on January 21, in commemoration of the tragedy of the four killed, he is expected to stop specifically to test a direct clash with SPAK.

However, it is not easy for the prime minister to act as if nothing is happening. Internationals have addressed Edi Rama directly. The American ambassador made it clear that the Trump administration has given orders to crack down on Albanian criminal groups, for which there are indications that they are connected to powerful government circles, as was the recent investigation into the AKSH.

At the parliamentary group meeting, Edi Rama tried to use Loro Boric's tactic, that the rain has its own business and we have ours. But immediately after that, the operation in the big tower took place, where the call centers were affected. A black hole, which if opened more, risks releasing a large amount of sewage to the surface, with the potential to flood the entire government and the majority.

Aware that his hands are tied, Rama is negotiating with great intensity these hours. The announcement of the date of the SP National Assembly is also expected to be his political declaration, either for a possible departure, or for granting a new term.

The Prime Minister wants to convene the Assembly after January 22, while the internationals are asking for next week. Even at this moment, it seems that negotiations are taking place at a high pace. /Pamphlet
