The new FBI files on Jeffrey Epstein have brought the spotlight back to the informal networks that have operated around the Trump presidency. Against this backdrop, Chabad-Lubavitch appears as a potential bridge to the Trumpist world, a path that various political figures have seen as an alternative to official diplomacy.

The release of new documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files in the United States has brought back into focus not only well-known names in American politics and business, but also the way in which American federal institutions have viewed, for years, informal networks of influence that operate parallel to official power. Among these documents, an internal FBI memo stands out not for the evidence it provides, but for the alarms it raises.

A 2020 FBI memo, released with the “Epstein Files,” contained allegations from a confidential source that the Chabad-Lubavitch movement was seeking to “capture” the Trump presidency. According to the memo, the source said that Chabad was “doing everything” to influence the presidency. In the same memo , the source said that President Trump had been “compromised by Israel” and that his son-in-law Jared Kushner was the “real mastermind” behind the organization. In the same document, the source alleged that Jeffrey Epstein was recruited by the Israeli secret service Mossad and received training from former Prime Minister Ehud Barak; this claim was linked to allegations that Epstein served as an agent for Israel.

In this mosaic of relationships that pass through Chabad and the Trumpist world, the long Russian shadow cannot be overlooked , which for years has appeared in the same spaces not as an official actor, but as the constant presence of interests that move in parallel with Western politics.

Chabad-Lubavitch is a movement within Orthodox Judaism, but limiting it only as a religious organization would be a great misunderstanding, because its real role, especially in recent decades, has long transcended the strictly religious dimension and has become a global structure of influence, present where politics, capital, and diplomacy collide.

Founded in Eastern Europe in the late 19th century and consolidated in the United States after World War II, Chabad-Lubavitch has built a vast network of centers, rabbis, and institutions in over 100 countries around the world. It does not function as a classical ecclesiastical hierarchy, but as a horizontal network of faith and loyalty, where each representative has great autonomy but remains strongly linked to the symbolic and ideological center of the movement.

In this context, Chabad appears as a possible bridge to Donald Trump, or more precisely, to the world that continues to exist around Trump even after he is no longer president. A world where the key figure is Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, the man who connects the family, American politics, Israel and Gulf capital into a single knot .

Kushner's investment in Albania, on the island of Sazan , is not simply a tourist project. It is a political signal. The fact that this project receives strategic status, full political protection and promotion from Edi Rama, shows that we are dealing with something more than business. It is a political bet, built on the idea that the connection with the Trumpist circle can be maintained through this informal channel.

Chabad is seen as the bridge that connects all these points: Rama, Kushner, and the Trumpist world. A bridge built on trust, on proximity, and on the idea that this path is safer than the usual diplomatic channels. A bridge that Rama seems to have seen as a guarantee of not being left out of the game, regardless of who is in power in Washington.

But this is where an element comes into play that shakes up this silent construction: the FBI documents that emerged from the files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

These documents do not speak about Albania or Rama. They do not bring direct accusations and do not provide conclusions, but they show something very important: that the FBI and American institutions themselves have viewed with suspicion the way in which family, religious and private interests have intertwined around the Trump presidency.

For Rama, this means that the hope for a silent mediation towards Trump, through this network, is becoming increasingly uncertain. Because what was seen as an open door until yesterday is today seen as a suspicious area. And in politics, suspicious areas are more dangerous than closed doors.

In the end, the question is not about the morality of a religious network, but about the political choices that have been made on it. Has Edi Rama relied, in his relationship with Donald Trump and his circle, on a mediation that today, in light of the FBI files, no longer offers peace, but uncertainty? /Pamphlet
