Before the state-owned company "Turkish Airlines" declared its withdrawal from the partnership in the company "Air Albania" and put its 49% shares up for sale, it is said that Prime Minister Edi Rama bargained for the Albanian government to buy these shares.

From sources within the Ministry of Finance, "Pamfleti" has learned that, by order of Prime Minister Edi Rama, "Albcontrol", with 10% shares in "Air Albania", has begun contacts with the administrative staff of the company "Turkish Airlines", to purchase the 49% share.
The value of the purchase of the Turkish shares will be decided by the two partners, but according to information, Edi Rama has agreed with the Turkish government, as the owner of the company "Turkish Airlines", to purchase the 43 million Euro debt obligation along with the shares.
The Albanian government will initially purchase a 49% stake in Turkish Airlines, then a 40% stake in Sinan Idrizi's MDN Investment company, becoming 100% owner of Air Albania, and will pay off the 43 million Euro debt, disguised after the purchase of the shares.
Why would the government buy the bankrupt, debt-ridden company?
It is abnormal for the government to buy an airline that has been bankrupt and in debt for 7 years, but also with a ruined reputation in terms of correctness in international air service, to the point that no company agrees to provide "Air Albania" with aircraft for rent and services without prepayment, and even the pilots refuse.
Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj has been tasked with calculating the financial value, treating it as a contractual "Liability Package", along with the debt that "Air Albania" has to contractors inside and outside Albania for aircraft leases, airport taxes, services, Eurocontrol, fuel companies, unpaid pilot salaries and hotel-catering services.
The background to the purchase is related to Edi Rama's bargain to repay debts to the state-owned partner "Turkish Airlines" and his friend Sinan Idrizi, who are in court proceedings for financial obligations, and in criminal proceedings for fraud and mortgage of leased aircraft.
Based on the percentage of shares, the state-owned company "Turkish Airlines" owes 21.5 million Euros in debt, Sinan Idrizi's private company "MDN Investment" owes 17.2 million Euros in debt, while the Albanian state-owned company "Albcontrol" owes 4.3 million Euros in debt.
If the sale is finalized, the Albanian government would repay the debts, although it has no obligation to do so; but it will take over as a guarantor towards them, therefore it will buy the company "Air Albania" along with the debts.
According to the information, after the purchase and repayment of the debts of the Turkish state company and Sinan Idrizi; through "Albcontrol" it will declare bankruptcy and close the activity of "Air Albania" through tax and judicial process, eliminating traces of the affair and its activity.
As is understood, part of the bargain is Edi Rama's charter plane, which the state-owned company "Turkish Airlines" donated to the Albanian Ministry of Defense on November 7, 2025, a few days before announcing the sale of the shares.
This affair, which will rob the Albanian state budget of 38.7 million Euros to repay the debts of the Turkish company and Sinan Idrizi, can and should be an indication of justice./ Pamphlet
