Montenegro has been conducting emergency flights to Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries for several days to evacuate embassy staff and citizens who were caught unawares there.
Greece carried out a repatriation operation in Oman yesterday, announcing that a special flight will take place from Dubai at 9:30 PM, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A new repatriation flight from Oman will take place tomorrow, with less limited capacity. At the same time, a C-130 aircraft has gone to Abu Dhabi to repatriate 90 Greeks. Also, an Air Arabia plane from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates recently arrived at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport with several Greeks.
The same thing has happened with Croatia. Speaking about the evacuation efforts so far, Prime Minister Plenković stressed that most Croatian citizens have already left the areas affected by the crisis. “ All Croatian citizens who wanted to leave Iran, Israel and Jordan have now been fully evacuated ,” he said. He added that a number of citizens had also been evacuated from Oman.
Yesterday, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said that Serbia was the first to start evacuation flights from countries affected by the conflict between the US and Israel with Iran, with the aim of evacuating its citizens from those territories, as well as citizens of countries in the region.
Skopje announced that so far, 632 Macedonian citizens have requested evacuation; some will return on charter flights, some on government planes.
Meanwhile, there is no movement from the Albanian government. According to the Foreign Ministry, there are currently about 3 thousand Albanians in the Emirates, 1500 residents, most of them in Dubai. Meanwhile, about 1500 others are there for tourist purposes, 500 of whom have declared themselves at the embassy located in the United Arab Emirates. Among the people trapped there are also state officials.
Today it was announced that special judge Engjëllushe Tahiri is stranded in Dubai; none of her trials have been held at the Special Court of Kosovo for 5 days. According to sources, directors and other state officials are stranded there. But so far the Albanian government has not made any move to repatriate the stranded persons.
Unlike all the countries in the region, which have their own airlines, Albania has been left with its hands in its pockets. "Air Albania", which Rama promoted with great fanfare, has now gone bankrupt and Albania has no airlines of its own.
