Almost every day, lawyer Kujtim Cakrani appears on the screens and attacks SPAK, the Special Court and justice reform, accuses prosecutors and judges of corruption and incompetence and offers ideas on how justice should be done in Albania, especially after he leaves court hearings as the lawyer for the arrested Ilir Meta.
When you listen to lawyer Kujtim, you get the impression that he is honest, with a clean image, an expert in jurisprudence, and a citizen who proclaims and demands equal justice and European standards.
But under the "mask" of Kujtim Cakrani, there are some bitter criminal memories with justice in Italy and Albania, but under the name "Shpëtim Cakrani", for criminal activities and criminal offenses, from those of the clients he defends today as a lawyer.
Operation "Medusa" in Italy: Kujtim Cakrani under the name Shpëtim Cakrani, 2 years in prison for heroin trafficking
On the morning of July 18, 2007, the Italian police and prosecutors, through Operation "Medusa", arrested 14 people for heroin trafficking in Salento, Puglia during 2004–2005, among them Albanian trafficker Shpëtim Luftar Cakrani.
Today, the trafficker is a lawyer and goes by the name Kujtim Cakrani, after changing his name in the Civil Registry to escape the sanctions of the Anti-Mafia law in Albania.
According to the document we are publishing, the Italian court sentenced Shpëtim Cakrani, i.e. lawyer Kujtim Cakrani, 37 years old at the time, to 2 years in prison, and the same number of years to his collaborator in the heroin trafficking group, Argent Arapi.
According to the Civil Status Registry, Shpëtim Cakrani, convicted of drug trafficking in Italy, is the "own hand" of lawyer Kujtim Cakrani, with the same date of birth, May 18, 1971, with the same fatherhood Luftar and motherhood Burbuqe, as well as the same birthplace, also confirmed in the personal data of the law firm's business license.
The other two criminal convictions of lawyer Kujtim Cakrani
With Decision No. 181, dated July 14, 2005, the Fier Court sentenced Kujtim Cakrani, who at that time bore the name Shpëtim Cakrani, to 2 years in prison and a 500 thousand lek fine, but the Vlora Court of Appeal dismissed the case.
The High Court sent him back for a retrial to the Vlora Court of Appeal, where the sentence given by the Fier Court was upheld, but the High Court converted the sentence to 3 years of probation.
With Decision No. 85, dated February 19, 2016, the Vlora Court of First Instance sentenced lawyer Kujtim Cakrani to a fine of 200 thousand lek for the criminal offense of "Assault due to duty", a decision that was upheld by the Vlora Court of Appeal.
